Jindal Steel & Power (up 7.21%), Sesa Goa (up 4.59%), Sterlite Industries (up 4.31%), Sail (up 3.5%), Tata Steel (up 1.82%), JSW Steel (up 1.52%), Hindustan Zinc (up 1.28%) and NMDC (up 0.31%), edged higher. The BSE Metal index was up 1.83% at 10,559.69. It outperformed the Sensex, which was up 0.65% at 18,584.53. The BSE Metal index had underperformed the market over the past one month till 14 September 2012, falling 2.51% compared with the Sensex's 4.15% rise.
